I've posted a short scene from a doc that I've been working on for a couple years. When I first met Daisuke Tsutsumi in 2009, the Sketchtravel book was already circling the globe. When it only had two pages left, Dice asked if I'd meet him in Montreal, where his hero Frederic Back was painting the 2nd-last page (the last was Hayao Miyazaki!). I drove there with my good friend Dave Dunville (and his steadicam) and we filmed the transfer of the Sketchtravel book, as well as a beautiful interview with Frederic. It was honestly life-changing. Such an honor to have met this wonderful man.

Fast-forward a year and the finished book was going up for auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity Room To Read. We flew to Brussels to film the auction, which raised over $100K, used to build five libraries and publish children's books in countries of need.

Fast-forward another year, and Dice was going to visit two of the countries: Sri Lanka and Cambodia. He asked Ronnie del Carmen to join him, and us to go film. This was the experience of a lifetime, and the footage we shot- just wonderful. I've been working at cutting everything together and made two trips to San Francisco to get follow-up interviews. It's been a long ride, but it's almost ready.

I've posted a scene as a preview- it's from Sri Lanka, and the first school library we visited. Dice and Ronnie get to see what they, along with 69 other artists helped fund.

Mostly I wanted to get something out there. I've been working on this doc for so long...and I want everyone to experience what I have!
